Community Projects and Programs

Perth Street Vets operates a monthly veterinary clinic for the animals of people experiencing, or are at risk of, homelessness. This service is provided by a dedicated group of volunteer veterinarians, veterinary nurses, groomers and veterinary social workers.

VaCC charity funds support the provision of free essential veterinary care such as health checks, vaccinations, parasite control, grooming and general animal care advice.

Additional services, such as dental care and desexing operations, are also made possible for patients in need. These procedures are undertaken through the generous support of VaCC Partner Practices in the wider veterinary community, and are also funded through charitable (tax deductible) donations to VaCC.

More information on Perth Street Vets will be available on completion of the PSV Website.

Donations to help PSV to continue delivering their vital services can be made to VaCC here

Veterinary Social Work

Veterinary social workers collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, client experience, and caregiver support. Veterinarians and their teams are not usually trained to work with people experiencing crisis, trauma, or grief. A veterinary social worker can help alleviate some of these pressures by adding professional expertise to high-emotion situations.

Vets in the Community (VITC)

VITC is a network of veterinary teams, working in practices or as individuals, (VaCC Partner Practices (VaCC PP)) who can provide veterinary and associated services to animal custodians who are experiencing disadvantage.  These veterinarians and their teams will work in a multidisciplinary setting with Veterinary Social Workers available to support the delivery of their services.  The VaCC Community Clinics (VaCC CC) will be delivered utilising established veterinary practices - encompassing bricks and mortar, home visits and mobile services across GP, Speciality and Emergency & Critical Care.  Community clinic locations (and operational times) will be strategically located across WA to facilitate access to clientele.

Directed Care Program

This is a program under development that will facilitate targeted charitable donations to be allocated to the veterinary care of a specific patient.

The patient and the client will be nominated by a VaCC Partner Practice, VaCC Community Clinic or Perth Street Vets and will be considered by VaCC to be a recipient of funds for the specific needs of their situation.

Nominations and requests can be made by friends, relatives and members of the public, however this is undertaken through a VaCC Partner Practice, VaCC Community Clinic or Perth Street Vets and will require to meet the VaCC objectives and assessment criteria.

Containers for Change

Making change for animals, their people, and the environment.

VaCC invites you to participate in an initiative that makes a significant impact on the lives of people and animals and also supports the veterinary profession who serves them.

Veterinary and Community Care (VaCC) is a charity committed to supporting the wellbeing of animals and the people who care for them, particularly those animal guardians experiencing vulnerabilities, whilst enhancing the mental health of the veterinary profession.

To help sustain and expand our services, we’ve partnered with Containers For Change (CFC). Did you know that four out of ten drink containers in Western Australia are currently going to landfill? By collecting and recycling eligible containers, you can help us turn waste into crucial funds.

We have these resources available to help you get started (just email fundraising@vacc.charity for a copy):

  • Veterinary Clinic and Neighbour Appeal documents: Editable templates for use by the community and veterinary clinics.
  • Poster: For display at veterinary practice or workplace.
  • CFC Guide: Additional details on how to maximise your impact.

Every container recycled will directly support VaCC initiatives like Perth Street Vets, where we provide essential veterinary care to those who need it most. Together, we can ensure that animals stay healthy and with their loved ones, fostering the invaluable human-animal bond.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us at fundraising@vacc.charity.

Tax deductible donations are also warmly received at Donate – Veterinary and Community Care (vacc.charity).

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a real difference.
